This may be our Autumn newsletter, but at Rocket
we’re still enjoying an Indian Summer: Seared
scallop with cumin & coriander… cured swordfish
& salmon with lime leaf & chilli… Grilled paneer
with pomegranate & coriander… there are
currently some wonderfully exotic aromas wafting
their way from the kitchen to the office. Ever
since Charlie came back from his gastro tour of
India, where he ate his way from Delhi to Goa,
Rocket has been spicing things up with an
exploration into Indian cuisine. Head Chef Anna
threw herself in at the deep end with a
placement at the world renowned Cinnamon Club
and is now creating some sublime dishes…
Tandoori prawns with apple & fennel raita salad…
Clove smoked rack of lamb with Rajasthani corn
sauce, new potatoes & spinach… The spice
trail has also inspired Darcy our pastry
magician, who has conjured up some exquisite
desserts… Lassi panna cotta with caramelized
quince & apple… Cardamom chocolate ganache with
stem ginger ice cream… our creative team
have designed canapé tray and food stall ideas
fit for the Pink Palace of Jaipur, with bright
fabrics, sequins, shimmering tiles, golds and
ochres … if you’re thinking outside the box this
Christmas then perhaps you should spice up your
event with Rocket and The Cinnamon Club?

Early August saw the transformation of The
Worx for Ridley Scott’s Robin Hood
wrap party. Cast and crew enjoyed
medieval food stalls including whole spit
roast hog and barbecued lamb, gourmet
sausages, Coeur de Lion pie and
mash and ‘ye olde’ sweetie stall filled with
treacle tarts, chocolate pots and flap
jacks… it was definitely one
for the trenchermen.

Burberry know how to throw a party, and
their end of Fashion Week party was no
exception, in fact it was the jewel in the
week’s crown and the inauguration of their
new HQ in Horseferry Road. Ultra-slick
design and production lead to a party that
blew away the lucky invitees and sent the
London press into frenzy. Christopher
Bailey’s guests included the uber stylish
Liv Tyler and Gwyneth Paltrow, Slumdog star |
|
Dev Patel, a spell-binding Emma Watson
partied to the sounds of the à la mode
band the Kooks and the à la minute
model/DJs Alexa Chung and Agyness Deyn.
Rocket added our own sparkle of Brit-tastic
culinary style with Yorkshire puds &
horseradish mash with fillet of beef,
Caramelized onion scones with Colston
Bassett & plum chutney along with our
famed Burberry Bramble and new soft
drink Pink grapefruit & ginger lemonade.

Rocket lives in the shadow of Battersea
Power Station, one of London’s most
recognizable landmarks, and everyday as we
nip to the New Covent Garden Market, or dart
over Chelsea Bridge we fantasize of the day
when our vans roll into the Power Station,
and the Rocket machine fires up one of the
greatest party venues of all. Well, readers,
the wait is over…
From December the venue that hosted the
Batman premier is back in business with a
bespoke clear roofed structure that has a
capacity for up to 1000 guests and views of
the four towering chimneys above.

With the evenings beginning to draw in, the
kettle is flicked on a little earlier in the
afternoon. At Rocket, the Great Tea Debate
has started to come to the boil. There are
the purists: darjeeling, lapsang or verveine,
all without milk of course. Charlie, fresh
off his sub-continental sabbatical, is the
only taker for chai masala - spicy, sweet
and milky. There are the blenders who argue
over ratios of Twinings in the pot… 2 parts
of the |
|
Earl to 1 of lapsang or is it
English breakfast? Then there are the
herbalists - at Rocket it’s fresh mint only,
fruity numbers are shown the door. A butch
cup of builder’s tea causes a stir with the
blondes in the office; they like its
coarseness - strong and caramel-tanned. But
while we simmer over whether to blend or add
milk, the chefs keep cool with their take on
iced jasmine tea.
