Christmas is coming and the goose
is getting fat!
Christmas couldn’t come a moment too soon -
every day we are taunted by suppliers converging
on Rocket with irresistible seasonal produce…
panniers of native oysters, sides of Hebridean
peat-smoked salmon, cases of sweet clementines,
whole sirloins of Aberdeen Angus…and no, could
it really be….? Yes it is! Cases of champagne!
We’ve been awash with prosecco throughout this
credit crunch year, so it’s a sight for sore
eyes to see, at last, the real thing leaving the
warehouse. We’ve had a bumper Autumn with some
super parties and exciting new clients, but
we’re all looking forward to being on the
receiving end of some of these treats. Christmas
chez Rocket will be a prosecco-free zone.
As you’ll read below, we have some exciting news
on the venue front, but we’re really thrilled to
have won a hugely prestigious contract with an
F1 team. From January, Jo and Bryony are going
to be heading up a crack team of Rocketeers
who’ll travel around the world, taking the taste
of Rocket to all 19 far-flung destinations on
the F1 circuit.
Happy reading and wishing you all a very Happy
Christmas!

A recent client event for a city law firm
saw the first outing for a mouth-watering
new Rocket food bar concept. Carnivores went
wild as they tasted various cuts of beef
from 3 different breeds, hung for 60, 40, 32
or 28 days. The excitement of the kitchen
was added by seeing the chefs working busily
behind the pass. |

The Human League & Britain’s Got Talent act
Diversity provided the entertainment for the
first party at the hotly-anticipated venue
within BPS. Rocket fuelled the mobile
handset company’s guests with cocktails
until dawn and the food ensured they’d have
Electric Dreams. |

In October, Rocket and The Cinnamon Club
created a Diwali feast for a City
institution at The V&A. After a tour of the
exhibition, the 250 guests were treated to a
colourful array of modern Indian dishes that
our chefs perfected over a "stage" at The
Cinnamon Club. We’ve also created a
wonderfully exotic Rajasthani food stall,
which is proving popular. |

A firm favourite with art-lovers, the Wallace is
a magnificent and surprisingly flexible venue
for events. We love the vibrant colours of the
refurbished 18th century interiors and the
jaw-dropping paintings and furniture that adorn
them – to the extent that our patissier leads a
double life as Madame de Pompadour. |

We’re proud to use some of the country’s
most fantastic produce to create the dishes
we put our name to – we demand the very best
from all our suppliers. This Christmas we’re
excited to share with you some of these
‘festive food heroes’ and have put together
an exclusive list of our favourites for you.
For the most incredible selection of cheese
imaginable, visit La Fromagerie just off
Marylebone High Street. Take time out from
your Christmas shopping to have lunch in the
kitchen and taste some of the exquisite
cheeses before you buy - look out for
Stichelton and Truffle Fougère - both
favourites here at Rocket.
Fabulous for after-dinner treats or gorgeous
presents for foodie friends, l’Artisan du
Chocolat on Westbourne Grove is well worth a
visit and the ultimate haven for chocolate
lovers and anyone with a sweet tooth.
Rocket makes a daily trip to the New Covent
Garden Flower Market which is happily
located just next door to our HQ here in
Battersea – jump out of bed early one
morning to soak up the atmosphere and be
inspired by ceiling to floor decorations,
foliage, flowers, vases, and ornaments...
everything you could possibly imagine to
make your home beautiful this festive
season. Rachel, our creative genius’s top
tip is to look out for Eric at Gate 10 for
the freshest and best selection of flowers.
Open from 3.30am daily. |

Jago Butchers on Chelsea Green is a family
butcher with a deservedly excellent
reputation – Mr Jago’s Aberdeen Angus is
second to none. Caroline recommends the
Bronze Turkey from Bramble Farm in Surrey
for the most succulent and tasty bird to
adorn your Christmas table this year.
Luigi’s Delicatessen supplies all things
Italian, and Michael intends to pay them a
visit to secure some of their delicious
Contero Moscato d’Asti di Strevi 2009
(£11.50) before Christmas. It’s a slightly
sparkling nectar with irresistible flavours
of apricots and peaches. It’s very low in
alcohol (5.5%) so it makes a lovely, clean
mid-morning tipple or could go beautifully
with your Christmas pud – great to keep your
options open.
And to finish, Anna, our Head Chef, wouldn’t
be without the decadently sticky Agen Prunes
from Mash Purveyors to complete her
Christmas feast.
